With a traditional payroll service, you supply them with your data, and they do the rest with in-house systems. A reputable service will know the schedules you're supposed to follow and should get the required forms filed and taxes paid (although you're responsible if they don't by some mistake). There are some disadvantages to traditional payroll services:

• Phoning in data my result in "phone tag"
• Transcription of your fax or phone data is subject to human error
• Doesn't integrate with your computer systems
• Usually you're required to authorize them taking money from your account, making theft possible
