Spreadsheets 

  • Microsoft Excel is required
  • No installation required, just save the spreadsheet we email you and it's ready to use
  • Embedded Visual Basic is used to support dialogs and error checking
  • Except for AOL and browser email (e.g., Yahoo email in Internet Explorer), the submission is emailed by the Visual Basic when you click Submit
  • Local data stored in a small auxiliary spreadsheet much like the one emailed
  • An optional output spreadsheet of the payroll report and the tax report allows direct linking of payroll data to other computer systems
  • All spreadsheets are password protected

Email

  • Payroll input and results are in the form of attached files
  • Secure email is not used because of the need for clients to obtain a "certificate", an unfamiliar process to most users
  • Instead, passwords are used for the files emailed back and forth
  • AOL & browser email require a few extra steps or new clients

PDF files

  • View and print with Adobe's free reader
  • Supports IRS forms, state forms, and check images as well as formatted reports
  • Checks, reports, and forms can be printed on virtually any printer
  • Password protected
  • You can copy fields but not accidentally change them

Optional Technologies

  • You can receive all your attachments in one zip file; makes archiving neat and easy and, if you purchase WinZip, you only have to type you password once to view all of the payroll files
  • MICR checks are supported, allowing you to print checks for several companies on one laser printer without changing paper
